In the field of K-9 training you would be hard pressed to find a staff of trainers possessing the level of experience that is employed at Police Canine Consultants. We are not civilian trainers. Every member is currently or has been a certified law enforcement officer, a working handler and certified trainer. For more than 15 years, the trainers at Police Canine Consultants have worked closely together. The relationships and techniques developed over this time are unique in the field of Canine Training. Each member of the training staff brings a high level of expertise to the training experience and they are eager to pass on their knowledge.
Marc Plunske
Marc Plunske has been in law enforcement for over 20 years and a K-9 officer for 18 years. He is currently assigned to the Sunrise Police Department, Broward County, Florida. Marc is working on his third dog which is a dual purpose canine. He has been a certified State of Florida K-9 Instructor since 1997 and is also a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) certified K-9 Team Evaluator. Marc has taught numerous K-9 academies and trained well over 100 K-9 teams in South Florida in patrol and detection. He currently supervises weekly training for more than 10 surrounding police agencies, (Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties), and has trained hundreds of teams during K-9 seminars conducted throughout the United States. Marc specializes in K-9 Team "problem solving", positive reinforcement training and stresses the importance of Training for Reality. Marc is the owner of Police Canine Consultants. Chad Bishop
Chad Bishop is a Police Officer for the Town of Davie Police Department, Florida, for 10 years. Chad has been working and training patrol and detection dogs for the past 6 years. He is a certified State of Florida FDLE K-9 Team Instructor. Chad has trained over 60 K-9 teams in South Florida and currently participates as an instructor and coordinator in weekly K-9 patrol and detection training for several surrounding police agencies (Broward, Dade and Palm Beach Counties),and has trained hundreds of teams during K-9 seminars conducted throughout the South East United States. He is currently working his second patrol / narcotics dog. |
Steve Sprouse
Steve Sprouse has been in law enforcement for 25 years and a K-9 officer for 20 years. He is currently the trainer for the Broward County Sheriff's Office, located in South East Florida. Steve has been an FDLE certified canine instructor since 1993. He is a USPCA regional patrol dog and detection dog judge. He has competed and placed as high as first place in numerous regional and national police canine events but believes training for the street takes priority. Steve's third dog was one of five dogs in the nation to receive "Honorable Mention" in the AKC 2002 Law Enforcement Dog of the Year award. Steve and his canine partners over the last 20 years have been involved in hundreds of K-9 apprehensions, many resulting in canine use of force. In 1989, Steve was shot and seriously wounded in a K-9 deployment and has since been involved in the importance of training for reality. He has lectured and taught numerous K-9 classes and seminars throughout the U.S. and has had several canine training articles published in popular police K-9 publications. |
Sgt. Kevin Keitz
Sgt. Kevin Keitz Has been in Law Enforcement for 28 years and a K-9 Handler since 1987. He served as the K-9 Unit Supervisor and Trainer for the Seminole Police Department, Broward County, Florida. Kevin is retired from the Hollywood Police Department after 25 years of service and served as the K-9 Unit Trainer/Handler and was an active member of the SWAT Team. Kevin is a certified State of Florida K-9 Team Trainer and Evaluator. Kevin has given instruction in a number of K-9 Seminars throughout the united States as well as numerous K-9 Work Dog and Detector Schools in South Florida. In 1997 and 2001 , Kevin was involved in shooting incidents during canine deployments one of which resulted in the loss of one of his canines. Aaron Vandenhouten
Aaron Vandenhouten is a patrol and narcotics dog handler with the Plantation Police Department, Broward County Florida and is currently the unit trainer. Aaron has been in Law Enforcement for 12 years and has been working / training dogs for 6 years. Aaron is a certified canine team instructor and has given instruction in a number of patrol dog academies and seminars. In addition, he currently coordinates weekly training for a multi-agency K-9 training group with approximately 10 agencies from throughout Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Aaron was previously a member of the departments SWAT team and is a certified firearms instructor and rappel master. |
