decoy course

Patrol/ Multi-purpose Canine Courses

Decoy Tactics and Canine Behavior
Our program starts with understanding the dog and what drives him. We then apply it into the context of his working nature and how to shape the dog’s behavior to make him a confident street dog. Students will develop skills and confidence in building green dogs, improving seasoned working dogs, targeting, problem-solving, and more. We can assure you that you have not experienced this perspective at any other Decoy/ Helper class you may have attended.

The course can be designed as a (3) to (5) day program and is designed to provide a basic understanding of canine behavior as it applies to shaping aggression in green and experienced dogs used in Law Enforcement and Military applications. The course begins with an in-depth classroom module on canine behavior and safety protocols. The remainder of the course is “hands-on” and all participants will engage in line work, open field exercises, and will be provided with instruction in the bite sleeve, full body bite suit, hidden sleeves and muzzle work.

*This course requires a high degree of physical interaction. All participants should be in good physical condition and free of injury

realitycourse
Reality Training for the Patrol Canine
This Course can be designed as a (3) or (4) day program. The course is geared to expose K9 teams to reality-based training scenarios through the use of the ArminLeggan® training systems. By expertly utilizing the ArminLeggan® training systems equipment, we will create realistic training illusions to provide the K9 team with pictures the team may see during real deployments.

This course will not be the typical bite suit, “hidden sleeve” class that most dogs are conditioned to succeed at. History has shown that that many dogs fail to engage a real suspect that does not duplicate what the dog has seen in training. Our instructors have worked the streets and trained the best of the best, we will provide expert class environmental training. This course is guaranteed to give you and your partner more confidence during deployments. This class is as close as any K9 Team can get to what typically happens during a deployment on the street.

Tactical integration
K9 Tactical Integration
There are many options of training for integrating a canine into the S.W.A.T./ Tactical environment. These classes range from a few days to a couple of weeks. The truth of the matter is attending a weeklong course and receiving a certificate does not make a competent, safe and effective K9 Team in this high risk and high stress environment. A successful program starts with proper selection of a canine specifically suited for this specialized task. The training must then focus on the unique needs of the agency’s tactical unit and the dedication to maintain the training regimen needed to support this asset.

We don’t have a cookie-cutter template for the K9 Tactical Integration course. This course will be based on specific needs and geared towards true integration. The course duration is designed at a minimum of two weeks. Phase 1 will focus on the K9 team for assessment and skills building and the following phases on the support and integration with the Tactical team.

Highlighted Areas of Instruction include;

  • Gunfire, Breach and Flashbang Neutralization
  • Team integration and Neutralization
  • Indoor Search and Deployment Capabilities
  • Outdoor Search and Deployment Capabilities
  • Vehicle Assault and Takedowns

The trainers at Police Canine Consultants have experience in training this capability with the highest-level of Law Enforcement and Military groups and can offer insight and experience not found anywhere else.
